Dedication Ceremony July 2nd

Well it has been a while but we finally got permission to plant peonies on the Capitol Grounds last fall to honor two of our past garden club members Jackie Wiley (Governor Bonner’s daughter) – http://helenair.com/news/local/obituaries/virginia-jacqueline-wiley/article_ac461e39-e76b-5e6d-919a-1f0b2caa1137.html (passed away in 2006) and Mary Kessner – http://helenair.com/news/local/obituaries/mary-magdalene-kessner/article_15d0bc43-e22b-5371-9297-11e674592dbb.html (passed away in 2007).  We chose the “Garden Treasure” peonies which are one of the longest blooming peonies lasting up to three weeks and are now in bloom.  These wonderful yellow flowers are fragrant and were given a prominent location next to the flag poles by the front steps entering the State Capitol.  They remind us of both the precious gold discovered in Montana as well as fields of wheat waving in the wind.

The memorial/dedication service will be held Tuesday July 2nd at noon on the front Capitol steps.  Please join us in honoring these wonderful members.
