Helena Community Gardens Announcements

Join Helena Community Gardens and Inside Edge Design to discuss Polyculture Systems at the site of the new Sixth Ward Park next Tuesday, June 17th from 6 to 7:30 pm.  Jesse Peterson and Caroline Wallace will be discussing edible forest gardening, which is the art and science of putting plants together in woodlandlike patterns. They will look at the mutually beneficial relationships of creating a garden ecosystem and talk about the benefits of these systems working together. Meet behind the HATS bus station off of Montana Avenue (east side). The site for the Park is between Gallatin and Bozeman Avenues. Bring blankets, water, snacks, and dress for the weather. They will also be doing a little walking around the site. This event is free and open to the public.

The Helena Community Gardens (HCG) is hiring a new Coordinator also. HCG is a small, volunteer-driven nonprofit that works to build community gardens within walking distance of every neighborhood in Helena, Montana. The part-time Coordinator is the sole paid position for HCG and works closely with the dedicated Board of Directors. The Mission of the Helena Community Gardens is to build gardens, provide the tools and knowledge to grow food, and increase access to healthy and affordable food. More information and the position description can be found at http://www.HelenaGardens.org.   This is a great organization.
